A twelve session course for family, friends, and loved ones of individuals affected with mental health conditions such as: schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, borderline personality disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, co-occurring disorders, and others.

The NAMI Family-to-Family program is more than just a class. It becomes a circle of support of individuals learning together how to help each other deal more effectively with the impact and effect that mental health conditions have had in their lives and their loved one.  NAMI Family-to-Family accomplishes this through as series of hands-on workshops that cover:

  •  Understanding the normative stages of emotional reactions to the trauma of mental illness on you and your loved one
  •  The characteristic features of psychotic illnesses: schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic disorder, and more
  • The relationship between substance abuse and mental health conditions
  • Basics about the brain
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Detailed information about medications
  • Communication skills that really work
  •  Coping skills for more stable periods
  • Self-care
  • The vision and potential of recovery

The NAMI Family-to-Family program is provided free through the volunteer efforts and dedication of other family members and friends who have also personally experienced the impact of a mental health condition in the life of a family member or loved one.

NAMI Family-to-Family provides:

    • A place to learn and practice new skills to deal with issues concerning mental health conditions
