Most of us join NAMI Tennessee because someone in our lives, someone we love, has a mental illness. Mental health professionals join NAMI, too, and lend valuable support to NAMI’s advocacy efforts. As members, you and your family will receive newsletters that keep you up to date on developments affecting Tennesseans with mental illness. You’ll also receive notices about upcoming classes and conferences across the state.

As a NAMI member, your voice counts. Simply by joining, you make your concern felt and your voice heard in Nashville and in Washington when lawmakers debate issues related to mental illness. You join with the 220,000 NAMI members nationwide, and the 3,500 members in Tennessee, who seek to end the stigma associated with diseases that affect nearly 300,000 Tennesseans.

Join NAMI and you become a member at the local, state, and national levels.

Joining NAMI has never been easier. 

"A member is a member."  Everyone counts. With NAMI, there aren't special categories of members. Whether you are a person living with mental illness, a family member, a mental health professional, or someone who just cares about our cause, when you pay membership dues, you are a member.  Our membership rate is $35 per year.  However, we want anyone who wants to be a part of the NAMI family to join.  We understand that many people are on a limited income.  We don't want that to be a barrier.  That's why NAMI maintains an Open Door Membership Policy.  If financial circumstances are such that you are unable to pay the $35 membership fee you may join NAMI at any rate.  $25 or $10 might be the right number for you.  You can join for as little as $3.  When you join through the Open Door policy, 1/3 of your membership Dollars goes to NAMI, 1/3 to NAMI Tennessee, and 1/3 stays in your community with the local affiliate.
